Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences. Do not use a semi-colon.
Sentence 1: Bob Dylan is an American musician.
Sentence 2: He is one of the most famous singer-songwriters in the world.
Sentence 3: He was recently awarded the Nobel prize for Literature.
Bob Dylan is an American musician who is one of the most famous singer-songwriters in the world, for he was recently awarded the Nobel prize for Literature.
Good try, Linelle!
But I don't think it is correct to say that Dylan is famous "for" he was awarded the prize. This seems more accurate to me:
American musician Bob Dylan, one of the most famous singer-songwriters in the world, was recently awarded the Nobel prize for Literature.
