*SENTENCE COMBINATION*
Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences.
Sentence 1: Western Canada is in the midst of a significant drought.
Sentence 2: The dry weather has contributed to many wildfires.
Sentence 3: Many people are hoping for rain.

Because Western Canada is in the midst of a significant drought, and the dry weather has contributed to many wildfires, many people are hoping for rain.
Kyle, for these exercises, try to avoid using the semi-colon. Also, I'm not sure that it is correct to say that the drought is "due to" the dry weather as "dought" is simply another way of saying "dry weather".

Many people are hoping for rain, since Western Canada is in the midst of a significant drought and the dry weather has contributed to many wildfires.
Due to the dry weather is Western Canada , there has been a period of drought that has contributed to many wildfires; many people are hoping for rain.
Well done, mero and jasmine!
