*SENTENCE COMBINATION*

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences.

Sentence 1: Yuri did poorly on his  final exam last week.
Sentence 2He stayed up very late studying before the exam.
Sentence 3: Research shows that getting a good night's sleep before an exam is important.

Yuri did poorly on his final exam last week, unfortunately, he stayed up very late studying before the exam, even though research shows that getting a good night's sleep before an exam is important.

Research shows that getting a good night's sleep before an exam is important, so even though Yuri stayed up very late studying before his exam, he did very poorly.

Good try, krisla. But you have a comma splice after the first clause.

Good try, jenniferri25. But the logic of your conjunction is strange. You say "even though" Yuri stayed up late, suggesting that the outcome is surprising. I think you want to say something like "because" she stayed up late she did poorly.
