I excoriated my palms last week while shoveling the snow, partly due to the disproportionate size of the shovel handle.

Because my friend used disproportionate tools for him, he excoriated his hands.

Well done, Eugenie and Sofia.

Alidap, "excoriate" is a transitive verb, so it requires an object.

Melissa, I'm not sure that "excoriate" can be used as a modifier that way.

Yosua (and Melissa), "disproportionate" usually refers to a quality (at least implicitly). So, tools can be disproportionately large, but I'm not sure that they can be simply "disproportionate".
