*SENTENCE COMBINATION*

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences.

Sentence 1: Many people attended Remembrance Day ceremonies on Nov. 11th.
Sentence 2In the United States, November 11th is called Veterans Day.
Sentence 3: Many people wear poppies to commemorate the flowers that grew in many World War I battlefields.

Great effort!

Sarah, I'm not sure about the logic of "however" in this sentence. But if you use it, remember to put a comma after it.

Lisa, watch your relative pronoun use. In your sentence, "which" seems to refer to "ceremonies", and I don't think that's what you want.

Here is another possible solution:

Many people wear poppies to commemorate the flowers that grew in World War I battlefields and, on November 11th, many attended ceremonies for Remembrance Day, which is called Veteran's Day in the United States.
