*SENTENCE COMBINATION*

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences. Do not use a semi-colon.

Sentence 1: The weather is cold.
Sentence 2: This weather will continue for a while.
Sentence 3: Soon, it will be spring.

It will be spring soon, the weather is cold, and it will continue for a while.

The weather is cold, and this weather will probably continue for a while; but, it will soon be spring.

Good try.

But, Jaquelyn, your sentence is simply uses comma splices, which is problematic.
Logan, your sentence uses a semi-colon, which you were instructed to avoid.

Here is an example of a very tight combination:

The cold weather will continue for a while, but it will soon be spring.

Note that there is no need to repeat "weather" in this case.
