*SENTENCE COMBINATION*
Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences. Do not use a semi-colon.
Sentence 1: The weather is cold.
Sentence 2: This weather will continue for a while. Sentence 3: Soon, it will be spring.
But, Jaquelyn, your sentence is simply uses comma splices, which is problematic. Logan, your sentence uses a semi-colon, which you were instructed to avoid.
Here is an example of a very tight combination:
The cold weather will continue for a while, but it will soon be spring.
Note that there is no need to repeat "weather" in this case.

It will be spring soon, the weather is cold, and it will continue for a while.
The weather is cold, and this weather will probably continue for a while; but, it will soon be spring.
Good try.
