AFFIXES
The word stem ven- or vene (meaning "to come") occurs in many words. Add an affix (either a prefix or a suffix) to this stem to make another word. Each participant should add a different word to the list.

venerable
contravene
Convene
Prevent
"Contravene" and "convene" are excellent.
And, surprisingly, "prevent" has the same root!
But venerable seems to have a different origin. It comes from the Latin word venerārī (which has the same meaning).
