SENTENCE COMBINATION, Jan. 3rd, 2013

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important skill in writing. There are many ways to do this--many possible bonus points! Try to combine the following three sentences.

Sentence 1: People have survived both Christmas and the New Year celebrations.
Sentence 2: Many people probably ate far too much food and are now trying to lose weight.
Sentence 3: Good times with friends and families often involve eating too much food.

People have survived the Christmas and New Year's celebrations, which probably involved eating far too much food and they are now trying to lose weight; however, good times with friends and family often involve eating too much food.

ALESHA:Punctuation is still a problem:-(
SARAH: Can you find the missing comma?

It is common that good times with friends and families often involve eating too much food, with many people probably eating far too much food and are now trying to lose weight and it is sometimes a miracle that people survive both Christmas and the New Year celebrations.

food and are now trying to lose weight as good times with friends and families often involve eating too much.

I have revised the sentence without the second comma.

JACOB: That's a good start. Now check for a word that should be omitted and the punctuation;-)
BEATRICE:Thank you:-)
