ACTIVE & PASSIVE, Jan. 31st, 2013
Use the verb with the base form of discover in two different sentences. Sentence 1 should be in the
active voice; sentence 2 should reword the sentence to the passive voice.

2. Passive voice
The bone was discovered by my dog.
1. Fredrick Banting, a Canadian scientist, discovered insulin.
2. Insulin was discovered by Fredrick Banting, a Canadian scientist.
Active Voice
The cat discovered the mouse.
Passive Voice
The mouse was discovered by the cat.
1. Active Voice
Stan discovered a problem at work.
2. Passive Voice
A problem at work was discovered by Stan.
