*SENTENCE COMBINATION*

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences. Do not use a semi-colon.

Sentence 1: Trudeau won the election.
Sentence 2: The victory was expected.
Sentence 2: It gives the Liberals control of Parliament.
Sentence 3: They have not been in power for over a decade.

Although they have not been in power for over a decade, Trudeau won the election and the victory was expected, which gives the Liberals control of Parliament.

Even-though the Liberals have not been in power for over a decade, Trudeau won the election with an expected victory, which gives the Liberals control of Parliament.

The expected election victory of Trudeau gave the Liberals control of Parliment even though they have not been in power for over a decade.

Though an expected victory, Trudeau's electoral win gives the Liberals control of parliament for the first time in over a decade.

A good try, everyone. But I think you could have come up with an even more accurate and straight-forward sentence:

As expected, Trudeau won the election, giving the Liberals control of Parliament for the first time in more than decade.
