Okay Micheal, today is the day I finally beat this one.

My mother said we are already more than a quarter of the way through the year.
We are already more than a quarter of the way through the year, which seems just crazy.
we are already more than a quarter of the way through the year, but we still have a lot of time to finish the project.

Sentence 1. Add a phrase - My how time flies, we are already more than a quarter of the way through the year.
Sentence 2. Add a dependent clause - We are already more than a quarter of the way through the year, where did the time go?
Sentence 3. Add an independent clause - We are already more than a quarter of the way through the year, Mom has lots of time to can her pasta sauce yet.

Alas, you haven't quite beaten this one yet, Logan:

Your first sentence does not add a phrase; it adds an independent clause ("My mother said [x]") that subordinates the original sentence.

Jaquelyn, all of your sentences use a comma splice to join to independent clauses.
